Ballantyne Reimagined Custom Benches
- Location: Charlotte, NC
- Customer: A&D Precast
About the Project
Our customer required custom benches for installation on the innovative Ballantyne campus in Charlotte, NC.
Scope of Work
Scott System worked with A&D Precast to turn their bench design into reality through precision-engineered formwork. We fabricated CNC cut foam by creating negative and positive forms to aid in their fabrication.
These unique design elements are now part of the Ballantyne Campus encompassing 90,500SF of retail and restaurant space, 700 multifamily units, a 6-acre stream park and a 3,500SF amphitheater and creative parks, gardens and open spaces.
Customer Satisfaction
“Our experience working with Scott System was great, and their work was integral to the success of our project. They were able to provide multiple options on how to best meet our needs. Once we had decided on the path to take, they were able to turn around the product we ordered with short lead times that enabled us to meet our own customer’s needs. Their engineers were easy to reach and worked with the files and information we were able to provide. The engineering turnaround was quick, communication was clear with detailed drawings, which made clarifying and confirming our specifications and requirements on the order a very simple, efficient process.
The delivered product was of great quality with no issues on any of our pieces. Initially we were only ordering foam shapes, as we were not familiar with their poly coating capabilities. That addition saved hours of in-house work and made it significantly faster to get to our end product. We were able to create molds from the positives easily, and more than once in some cases. The durability and reusability significantly cut our costs and lead time as well by eliminating time-consuming and expensive rework. We explored other methods prior to working with Scott System, but none of those were complete solutions. The ability to cut large, intricate pieces and have them arrive hard coated as one piece provided a simple, turnkey solution we were able to plug directly into our process and meet our deadlines.”
